Meet Suzanne About the Artist

Suzanne is an artist, a homeschool mother of two wonderful boys, wife, and Interior Designer. Her interests are in all things creative and are vast; she thinks of herself as a mixed media inventor of all things with a passion for Creative Arts. She has discovered that she is the happiest when creating, whether through designs or beautiful works of art with a paintbrush in hand. Evolving over the years and experimenting with different mediums, her style does not conform to the standard types and mediums of art. One of her signatures is to repurpose products from their original use into her artwork; everyday items are used to create eclectic pieces using various techniques and materials, both conventional and unconventional. Michelangelo freed his figures imprisoned in marble; Suzanne sees potential in everyday objects, and in her hands, they are transformed into unique works of art.

Her journey started growing up in a small town in Kingston, England. She was steered in a different direction of creativity and entered the world of Fashion. Beginning her journey in London, she traveled to New York, where she worked her way up from retail to Fashion Buying.

Still wanting to expand on her creative horizons, she returned to school at The Fashion Institute of Technology in N.Y and graduated with a degree in Interior Design. In the following years, Suzanne then worked for a few privately owned Interior Design companies in New York.

This led to setting set up her own business for Interior Design; she began increasing her creativity to incorporate painting murals and including some custom art pieces in her commissions. Suzanne started implementing the use of color in different spaces, and this is where she began to marry the two arts together. Along her journey, she also dabbled in furniture making, where she put her creative talents into making unique, unconventional, custom pieces of furniture.

Suzanne's journey has come full circle by venturing into different avenues of the arts. She likes to be different and enjoys her work to reflect that. Her inspiration comes from various music types: Gospel, Enigma, and an assortment of tribal chant music, which allows her to become lost in her art world. Art has become her soul, and her biggest goal is her achievement and completion of each piece to be rewarded by her admirers' faces as they gaze upon her work. Suzanne feels that art can be a great stress relief for all ages. She believes art and design provide a way to allow self-discovery to nurture and recharge a place within, to bring a sense of wholeness and balance to our lives. She is excited to begin this new teaching chapter at the "home" of The Family Learning Alliance.
